1 Corinthians 11:24-25 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.

Dear friends:

Why do we celebrate communion? I was meditating on this passage prior to our last partaking of the Lord’s Supper. Let me share a couple of thoughts.

It causes me to admit my need. I can become so self-centered or self-righteous. I am a pastor aren’t I? I have been a Christian for a very long time. I have come a long way. But I can use the same thoughts to beat myself up. Why am I not further along? Why do I deal with the same sins? Shouldn’t I be more loving, patient and kind? The Lord Supper reminds me to think of myself less and think of Christ more.

It helps me reorient my life. As I get right vertically, God enables me to get right horizontally. I strive to be at peace with all men. I resolve to be at peace with myself – I should have no fear, no guilt and no shame. I set my mind on eternal things. I recognize that God is sovereign; He is completely good and loving. It is well with my soul.

It helps me re-energize my life. I can go forth in power, love, joy, and with purpose. It motivates me to pursue righteousness, to not settle for mediocrity, and to go forth strongly in his name to influence people and win them to Christ. I want to be a part of seeing God’s Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. That is seemingly a bigger task these days.

Finally, it causes me to go forth in gratitude. My God has given me salvation, heaven, justification, adoption into His family and the promise of glorification. He is remaking me in His image! I want to live in light of that great sacrifice. What would I have done if I had been there at his crucifixion? Not much better. Yet, my Lord sought me out just as he did Peter. I’m glad He did.

We have just finished a successful Golf Marathon and our Spring Banquet with Bill Cabaniss. We have started a new study from the guys that came to the last banquets. Our discipleship leaders are strong and we are preparing for great attendance at our Summer Series.

Thank you so much for your continued prayer and support for this ministry. Please pray as we are seeking additional staff and for the new WBL ministry. I hope many of you can join us for our Summer Series dealing with priorities

downloadLet us go forth in the power of the resurrection and in the means of grace God has provided for us. How can we not be grateful for such a love that is been shed on our behalf?

Grateful and blessed,
