My name is Jay Fletcher and I am the new City Director in Jackson, MS. I thought I would use the first blog post from Jackson to introduce myself to the YBL community. I grew up in the small town of Walker, Louisiana, but have been in the central Mississippi area since 1994. My wife, Nikki, is an administrator at a local law firm. My daughter, Kasi, is married (husband Jon) and works in Human Resources for my wife at the law firm. My son will graduate in May with a business degree from Mississippi College. I love my family and enjoy spending time with them.

I started a relationship with Christ when I was 11 years old. I knew that the Lord was calling me to serve Him in a full time capacity when I was in the tenth grade, but I resisted that call because that was not what I wanted to do with my life. Through a series of circumstances, God got my “yes” to full time ministry when I was a sophomore in college. After graduating from college, I went on to seminary and have been serving in local church staff positions until two years ago when I began to do workplace chaplaincy through Corporate Chaplains of America (see The Lord used those two years of being inside businesses every day, caring for the needs of employees, to prepare me for the role that I now serve in YBL.

The first month with YBL has been a blur, but it has been so much fun. I have been attending all of our groups around the city, getting to know our group leaders and the businessmen that attend the groups. Our groups are going well. The leaders are doing a wonderful job of discipling, encouraging and serving the men that attend their groups.

Our YBL Jackson Board is an incredible team. They have carried on the local YBL ministry for a year without a director and the ministry has continued to grow in its influence in Jackson. The Board is to be commended for a job well done.

Ways that you can pray for the work of YBL in Jackson:

  1. Our fall outreach banquet is on October 19th.
  2. Our biggest prayer need is discipleship/small group leaders for 2017
  3. Opportunities to further introduce the ministry of YBL to businesses in the Jackson metro area
